Installation Code Signing Certificate or Email Certificate

This manual describes the installation of a code signing or client (email) certificate.

Obtain certificate through pickup link

Once the validation has occurred, the pickup link will be sent to the email address provided upon submission of the request. This link contains a unique code that will retrieve your certificate and will link this to the previously created private key. This pickup link needs to be opened on the same computer and in the same browser that the order was placed, only in this way, the certificate is automatically linked with the Private Key. After opening the link, the browser displays a message indicating that the installation was successful. Where the certificate has been installed is depended on the browser that was used:

Windows - When using IE for installing the certificate, the certificate is directly available from the Personal Certificate Store of the Computer Account in the MMC. Firefox installs the certificate under it's own certificate database.

Mac - When using Safari to install the certificate, download the collectccc.p7s by opening the pick-up link. Choose "Keychain Access > Archive > Import Items..." and select the p7s file. The file will be linked automatically with the Private Key. Firefox installs the certificate under it's own certificate database.

Exporting the certificate to PFX/P12 format

To make use of the certificate on a different system, the certificate has to be exported together with the private key. In addition, the free reissuing of a digital signature is not possible, therefore you should create a backup copy of the certificate in PFX / P12 format after installing. In addition, some applications require this format.

FireFox

Navigate to Options > Privacy & Security > View Certificates > Your Certificates

Open the Your Certificates tab, select the certificate and click on create back-up. You will now be able to download the certificate as PFX/P12 format.

Chrome

Navigate to Settings > Show Advanced settings... > Manage Certificates

Select the certificate from the tab personal certificates and export to the PFX/P12 format.

Safari (Mac)

Open the application keychain access from the Utilities folder and select the login keychain.

Select the certificate and export to the PFX/P12 format.

Internet Explorer

Navigate to Internet Options > Content > Certificates

Select the certificate from the tab personal certificates and export to the PFX/P12 format.
