Exchange 2010 - Generate CSR

A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is required when applying for an SSL certificate. This CSR (and private key) can be generated on your webserver. To request a wildcard certificate, fill in an * (asterisk) for the subdomain, for example *.sslcertificaten.nl (instead of www.sslcertificates.nl).

Exchange 2010 has a GUI and a wizard to help create a CSR. The private key is generated automatically while creating the CSR, so this is not a separate process.

Note: Usually, a multi-domain certificate is used for Exchange. Since November 2015, it is no longer possible to include internal domain names in a multi-domain certificate. You should therefore replace internal domain names with regular domain names.

  1. Navigate to Menu StartProgramsMicrosoft Exchange 2010 and click Exchange Management Console.
  2. Click to open the Microsoft Exchange On-Premises tree and click Server Configuration in the menu to the left. Exchange 2010 - Aanmaken CSR
